Upcoming Events

March is CELEBRATE Music in Our Schools Month!! We will kick off the month with a FREE concert by the American Band at Gaudet Middle School on Thursday, March 4th at 7:30pm. The American Band is made up mainly of music teachers or retired music teachers from Rhode Island, or close-by. They will be performing music including Carnival of the Animals and Star Wars.

We ended our celebration of Music in Our Schools Month with a bang! (literally... thanks to one of our first grade drummers who was one of the performers in our concert!!) Music Share Day was a great success! We had a concert full of pianists, one drummer and then our entire 3rd grade gave us a recorder "Grand Finale." Congratulations performers, you did a GREAT job!!

Dates we are looking forward to for the end of the year are:

May 14th: 3rd graders perform on their recorders at the Aquidneck School Vairety Show

May 26th: 4th Grade Learning Academy chorus performs their show "UDATE: Earth"

June 10th: 3rd Grade Night and Recorder Concert

Music Notes

Music Notes    Music Notes:

2nd & 3rd Grade Keyboards

In our classroom we have the YAMAHA Music in Education (MIE) system of keyboards. Each student can sit down to a keyboard and learn very basic piano playing techniques while also learning the piece of music for that lesson. Each student has headphones and can listen to himself/herself play what they've been working on. (We like listening to some of the fun sounds we can make by pressing the buttons on the top of the keyboard as well!)

3rd Grade Recorders at Aquidneck

Thanks to our spectacular PTG, every 3rd grader received their own recorder, carrying case, neck strap and Recorder Karate Book. This provides such a great advantage for every student because they are able to take home their music and instrument home to practice at night as their "music homework." We need to remember, though, that those recorders and books need to come to school the day your class has their recorder lesson. Here is the schedule of recorder classes.

Schedule for 3rd Grade Recorder Classes:

Day 3:  3P

Day 5:  3CH

Day 6:  3O & 3PD
