This morning at approximate 9:15 AM, the Assistant Principal at Gaudet was informed that an unidentified woman was in school with two children. A Middletown employee approached her and asked her to identify herself. She did not cooperate. Based on protocol, we notified the police. At the same time, the popcorn machine set the fire alarm off. Students were evacuated. The Police and Fire Departments were on-site immediately. Police did a sweep of the building to determine if the woman was in the building. During this sweep, the woman was identified as a contracted service employee and questioned by the police. At that point, the police and fire determined it was safe for our students and staff to return to the school. Some classes did walk to the church on Turner Road. Students and staff were back in the building by 10:10 AM. Please be assured that safety is our number one priority. The Police, Fire and School Departments cooperatively work together for the safety of our school community.
