Standards Based Assessment & Grading

www.mpsri.net/standardsbased

Middletown Public Schools has used standards-based grading, which involves measuring students' proficiency on well-defined course objectives (Tomlinson & McTighe, 2006).  This grading practice has been used in a variety of ways throughout the years.  Middletown has adopted standards-based grading in addition to traditional grades but during the 2016-2017 school year we will review our assessment, grading and reporting policies and work to have a standards-based grading foundation that replaces traditional point-based grades.
