Located in the south-central area of Aquidneck Island, Middletown is a community of varied socio-economic levels. Light industry, agriculture, military, and tourism are the primary employers. Adjacent to Newport, RI, 40 miles from Providence and about 70 miles from Boston, Middletown residents have easy access to a variety of athletic, recreational, cultural and educational events.

The Joseph H. Gaudet Middle School and Learning Academy is committed to creating an atmosphere of positive learning experiences for our students, parents, and staff. Our school includes a 4th  5th grade learning academy that is premised on elementary style teaching and grades 6-8 which are built on the principles of a middle school model.

We are a community devoted to encouraging creativity, individuality, and self worth. Academic resilience is fostered by encouraging our students to put forth their best effort. Our academic expectations are high and the classroom environments are rigorous. We know that respect and tolerance are important to support the work we must do together. We are respectful of our differences and we live by the Pillars of Character (Fairness, Citizenship, Caring, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, and Respect).
