MPS NonPublic Textbook Loan Information

The Middletown Public School Department will furnish textbooks for Middletown residents attending non-public schools for the School Year. Books may be borrowed in Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, English/Language Arts and History/Social Studies for grades K-12. The textbooks must be on a list published by the Commissioner of Education entitled the "List of Textbooks Approved for Loan to Non-Public School Students”. Please note that novels are not on the approved list.
Paper forms will be available at the Middletown Public Schools Administrative Office, 26 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, Rhode Island during the ordering period. Those requesting textbooks must provide the correct title, publisher, copyright date, and ISBN number for each textbook.
You will be asked to provide your photo ID and a second proof of residency to ensure that books are only loaned to Middletown residents. (Proof of Residency: Student must reside in Middletown with parent/guardian. A true copy of one of the following will be accepted as proof of residency (all must be current): (1) Middletown Property Tax Bill; (2) Government Housing Letter; (3) Copy of Lease/Copy of Rental Agreement; (4) Notarized Letter/Form from Middletown Residents with Proof of Residency; (5) Current Utility Bill (Phone, Electric, or Gas).
Please note that all textbooks borrowed last year must be returned before this year’s request will be honored. The list of books that were borrowed last year is included with this letter. All damaged and lost books must be paid for before placing new textbook orders. The cost of replacing a book is the list price plus a three dollar ($3) shipping and handling charge.
The ordering and distribution of books will take place at the Middletown Public Schools Administrative Office, 26 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI. The ordering period is from now until July 1st and once your order is complete, you will be contacted for pick up.
