• The Forum Lodge-Order Sons & Daughters of Italy-Anna M Ripa Memorial Scholarship!

***DEADLINE*** by April 30, 2024 - Anna M Ripa Memorial Scholarship Application

$1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 3 Aquidneck Island high school seniors of Italian descent who graduate in June 2024 and will attend college in the fall. In addition to having earned at least a B average during high school , each applicant must compose an essay explaining the importance of their Italian ancestry in their lives. The scholarship committee will place the most importance on this essay. • 2024 VHS Learning Scholarship Program

The program is open to any student who will be graduating in 2024, plans to attend a post-secondary program, and has completed a VHS Learning course or is currently enrolled in one. Students can submit entries by April 30, 2024, for a chance to earn one of the three scholarships that are available.

2024 Constance Edmonds Scholarship

The Providence Chapter of Chums, Incorporated, seeks your assistance to encourage your high school senior, who plans to attend college or technical institute, to apply for the 2024 Constance Edmonds Scholarship. Students must be US citizens of African American or Black descent. We require excellent academic achievements, outstanding community service and financial need.

• EASTON'S POINT ASSOCIATION OF MIDDLETOWN SCHOLARSHIP

***DEADLINE*** by April 30, 2024 – Easton's Point Association of Middletown Scholarship Application

The Easton's Point Association of Middletown is establishing two scholarships of $500 each. To be eligible, applicants must be a high-school senior who resides full-time in Middletown, RI., and have been accepted to any two to four year accredited academic or vocational post- secondary educational institution. Applicants will be selected based on the merit of their application, an essay describing what it means to live in Middletown, RI., and a student's interest, service and/or involvement in the Aquidneck Island community.

• The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

***DEADLINE*** by May 1, 2024 - The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

For the 23-24 academic year, Phillips’ new and renewal awards total over $4.2 million, including close to $200,000 being awarded to Rhode Island students. New award amount to $60,000 and over $130,000 to help renewing recipients from Rhode Island. Each Awardee’s scholarship is based on individual financial need.

New applicants should visit the New Applicants Page to carefully review all criteria and required application materials before beginning an application. Applications must be submitted using the online form and can be found at www.phillips-scholarship.org.

NEW APPLICANTS should gather the following in preparation for applying: 

FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) from FAFSA, The most recent Financial Aid Award letter from your college, Student and Parent Earnings Information, The charges for tuition, fees, food and housing, if your college is not included  on our Cost of College List 

NEW APPLICANTS will also need:

1. Contact information for at least one recommender (for high school applicants, the first recommender must be your school/guidance counselor) 

2. A formal personal essay such as the Common Application or Coalition Application essay (up to 650 words) and a short essay (up to 250 words) about what you do in school, at home, or in the community to serve others. 

All new applications are due no later than 12 noon, May 1, 2024. There is an early response option, available to new high school applicants only, for applicants who submit by 12 noon, April 3, 2024.  

• Newport County Board of REALTORS

The Newport County Board of REALTORS® is offering two students a $1,000 scholarship to

any college bound student residing in Newport County regardless of where attending school. 

This scholarship is based on a combination of financial need, scholastics, and extra-curricular activities. 

• Aquidneck Island National Police Parade

***DEADLINE*** by May 1, 2024 - Aquidneck Island National Police Parade Letter

The Aquidneck Island National Police Parade will be offering (2) $1,000 dollar cash scholarships to a graduating Aquidneck Island Senior who is continuing their education in the criminal justice field.

Interested person(s) should submit an essay on why the committee should award them the scholarship and what they hope to do once they graduate from college. Please include in your scholarship packet a typed essay, copy of transcript and a copy of acceptance letter into a college. QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Middletown Resident

2. Graduating Senior, 2024

3. Continuing education thru prep school, community college, college, trade school, or military.

One-to-two-page essay outlining a historic aspect of Middletown, R.I. This can be a person, event, industry, sports, entertainment, education, etc. Please outline how the topic influenced life in the Town. The time period should be anywhere between 1743 to present. All research to be properly documented. Please be advised the award recipient ‘s essay will be property of Middletown.

Eligibility: Any Middletown High School student who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is eligible for graduation in June of 2024 may apply.

Attention: Middletown High School Students- I am pleased to announce a 2024 BankNewport Financial Education Scholarship for Middletown High School students who have participated in the bank-sponsored Financial Education Program/Fair during the 2023-2024 school year. BankNewport is offering a

$1,000 scholarship to a graduating student pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university. A scholarship application is attached for you to complete and submit to Ms. Cari Ford, Guidance Clerk, no later than Friday, May 10th.

Patricia W. Edwards Memorial Art Scholarship Fund- Freshman, Sophomore, and Juniors ONLY

The Rhode Island Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Patricia W. Edwards Memorial Art Scholarship Fund.

The scholarships are for further education of young Rhode Island artists. The scholarship is available for Rhode Island high school freshman, sophomore, and juniors, who wish to attend one art class at a Rhode Island institution (Rhode Island School of Design, AS220, etc.) The applicant must demonstrate artistic ability and interest in painting and/or drawing. Given in memory of Melanie (1985-2002) who was a junior at Middletown High School who was known for her warmth, friendliness, intelligence, and sportsmanship. She was a proud to be involved with sports, both at the town and high school levels. She is greatly missed by all those who knew her. The MHS Athletic Boosters Club seeks to reward graduating student athletes in the memory of Melanie, with two $500 scholarships (one each to a senior girl and boy) who best exemplify Melanie’s spirit of friendliness and good sportsmanship.

Peter D. Connerton Jr Memorial Scholarship 2024

The Peter D. Connerton Jr Memorial Fund will be offering a onetime $1,000.00 scholarship for a MHS Senior who is committed to higher education or attending a trade/technical school. Student athletes are strongly encouraged to apply, but all applicants will be considered equally. Interested students should submit a response to one of the following questions in 144 words or less.

1.) Where do you envision yourself being in ten years and how did you get there?

2.) When did you decide on what you wanted to do after graduating and what factor(s) weighed heaviest on your decision?

Additionally, please include a letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor in support of your application for the scholarship, along with a letter of acceptance to the learning institution you plan on attending.

The Robert S.H. Fye Memorial Scholarship

***DEADLINE*** by May 20, 2024-The Robert S.H. Fye Memorial Scholarship Application

The Robert S.H. Fye Memorial Scholarship honors the courageous spirit of Rob Fye, Class of 2002, who was diagnosed with cancer during his freshman year at Middletown High School. For the next nine years, this scholar, artist, athlete, and devoted friend battled recurrent illness while achieving academic excellence at Middletown High and Yale University. 

In Rob's memory, a $1,500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating Middletown High School senior to help support his/her post-secondary education. In the event that more than one candidate in a given year merits the award, the Scholarship Committee may grant a $1,500 scholarship to each of the selected candidates.

Criteria for the scholarship:

1.      Graduating senior 

2.      Acceptance to a 2- or 4-year college 

3.      Evidence of high academic achievement 

4.      Completion of the Robert S.H. Fye Scholarship Application Form

Newport Gulls Collegiate Baseball Scholarship

Purpose: To honor and reward Softball and Baseball Student-Athletes graduating from High School, to encourage them to seek education or job training beyond the secondary level, and to assist them financially in their goal of continuing their education.

Award: $500.00 scholarship to the selected softball Student Athlete. $500.00 scholarship to the selected baseball Student Athlete.

• LAURA A. MARTINS $2,000 TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP

Laura A. Martins was a first generation American.  She was educated at Teachers Normal School, a teacher’s preparatory school, now known as Rhode Island College.  She had a long career teaching in Middletown from 1917-1943 teaching in the Wyatt and Berkeley Peckham Schools.  Afterward, she taught in the Newport school systems from 1943-1953 (Coggeshall and Sheffield Schools). This scholarship is in memory of this remarkable teacher and will be granted to a Middletown High School student who has aspirations to become a teacher.

The following documents must accompany your application to be considered complete: TWO letters of recommendation from a current or former MHS teacher, An official copy of your MHS transcript, A current resume that highlights any athletic, extra-curricular and community service activities, A completed and typed response to the following essay prompt in under interested in being a teacher? • Military Women Across the Nation $1,000 College Scholarship
