The Middletown Teacher of the Year Committee Selected
Cathy Palkovic as the 2023 Middletown Teacher of the Year!
Cathy is a Third Grade teacher at Aquidneck School. Cathy works collaboratively with special educators in an inclusion classroom model. She started her teaching career in Middletown as a substitute teacher in 1993.
In her application to the Middletown Public Schools, Cathy stated, “Each student is a unique individual who needs understanding and guidance in order to reach their ultimate potential.” Cathy also referred to the critical role an educator has in addressing social/emotional needs of students for them to be successful. Cathy has stayed true to those core beliefs as an educator in Middletown.
Cathy is one our Tech Coaches and is always willing to pilot new programs and lead and support others in technology initiatives. We count on her to present the “how to” many times both within and outside the district. She is also part of our Math Curriculum team responsible for selecting the new curriculum to be implemented next year.
Anyone who knows Cathy recognizes her advocacy for her students, her knowledge of the curriculum and her technology expertise!
